Five years ago, the words of encouragement that Moses spoke by the Red Sea took on a very special meaning for me. The Lord touched my heart with the certainty that I did not have to worry, that He would fight for me. It was then that I launched my ministry in English.
You might have wondered at the name of my blog: MX1414. It’s from Exodus 14:14.
- M stands for Miracles—it’s all a miracle!
- X stands for Exodus.
- 1414 stands for 14:14, the verse that reminds me that the Lord is on my side, fighting my battles, providing day by day for my needs.
I’m still taking the first steps, but I hope that one day my stories will reach children from many countries where they speak English, and that they will be translated into other languages. That’s my vision. I’m crossing the sea!
What is your “sea”? What “impossibility” is there in your life? The Lord will fight for you!
Moses answered the people: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13,14 NIV
On the mirror in my bathroom I have a plaque in Spanish that reminds me of the powerful God I serve. Every time I look in the mirror I see it: “Is anything impossible for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14) No, there is nothing impossible for our God!
I imagine that arriving at the Red Sea was a terrifying situation for the Israelites. In front of them was the sea and behind came Pharaoh’s army. They were trapped! Then the angel of the Lord who had been traveling with them in the pillar of cloud moved and went behind, separation the Israelites from Pharaoh’s army. Moses received orders to raise his hand and stretch out his staff over the sea. Immediately the wind began to blow. The more it blew, the more miraculous it was. The waters separated! God opened the way through the sea!
The people had to exercise their faith. The Israelites must trust that the waters would not return to their place when they were in the middle of the sea. In today’s story we see Eleazar and his family ready to march through the sea. Read Exodus 14:1-22.
What path is open for you? Trust that God will guide you step by step. Even if there are enemies, God is there between you and any obstacle in your way. The Lord will fight for you!
As I sit working at my computer, every time I look up I see another plaque, and I’m reminded to be still and just trust God.
I wish you the same assurance!
